For over 160 years, this yearly celebration brings thousands of people from all over the map. The famous parade begins at 10:30 AM and may last up to two hours! Can't forget about the carnival-- rides for both children & adults.
Even days leading up to the 4th, there are numerous events taking place. This is one tradition you won't want to miss!

The Exira Fall Festival
This kick-off to Fall happens every year on the last Saturday of September. There are numerous vendors set up in the Rec Center, Lions Building, and throughout the city park. The festival begins at 9 AM and dwindles down at 3 PM. A delicious lunch is available (even includes dessert!) beginning around 11 AM. This is a one-stop-shop for baked goods, crafts, trinkets, pumpkins, and much more!

Festival of Lights
A winter welcome in the heart of Exira. Starting this Christmas spirit off with holiday music, hot cocoa, a cookie walk, children's games, and the traditional soup supper; how can one resist holiday happiness! Along with the festivities, enjoy the lighting of southwest Iowa's biggest Christmas Tree and meet Santa Claus himself. Make sure to keep the first Saturday of December open on the calendar!
